Dr. John Mosco

General Dentist

Dr. John Mosco is a graduate of McGill University, holding both a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a degree in Dental Medicine. His passion for dentistry has led him to completion of a multidisciplinary residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Montreal Children’s Hospital with a focus on oral surgery, dental implants, and dentofacial restorations.

Dr. Mosco is committed to continuing education and clinical excellence. He is passionate about dentistry taking many opportunities for growth and acting as a mentor to newer dentists. He and his wife have made Victoria their home after owning a group practice, raising three children, and serving the people of Ottawa for 28 years. In his off-hours, he enjoys an active lifestyle including skiing, cycling, and windsurfing.

Dr. Laura Turner

General Dentist

Dr. Laura Turner was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, and first fell in love with Vancouver Island while completing her Bachelor of science in chemistry at UVic. She completed her dental degree at UBC and was excited to return to Victoria for good.  Dr. Turner is an active member of the profession as part of the Editorial board for the BCDA, a member of the scientific committee for the Victoria and District Dental Society, and a past member of the quality assurance committee for the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.

Dr. Turner enjoys learning and exploring new treatments and techniques for preventative and restorative dental care.  When she isn't busy in the office she enjoys spending time on the beautiful west coast beaches with her husband and son.

Dr. Cian Zybutz

General Dentist

Dr. Cian Zybutz hails from the Rocky Mountains – growing up in Calgary and slowly making her western migration through Kelowna & Vancouver to finally settle in Victoria, BC. She studied a bachelor of Physics at UBC & received her dental degree down under at the University of Sydney.

Dr. Zybutz enjoys her dental work with people of all ages, especially children. When she isn’t busy learning new techniques for preventing & treating dental issues, she enjoys fishing, camping & exploring the west coast.

Dr. Su Xu

General Dentist

Dr. Su values open communication and gives every patient evidence-based treatment plans to suit their individual needs.

Dr. Su started his career as a Ph.D. candidate in Microbiology and Bioinformatics, he changed his path and decided to bring his talents to dentistry. Dr. Su received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Melbourne with honors. He is an active member of the BC Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry to keep up-to-date with the latest technology and treatment philosophy.

Dr. Su has an interest in Endodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Atraumatic Surgery, and Dental Anesthesia. He is still actively involved in microbial ecology research projects with his friends from University of California. Dr. Su enjoys volunteering, including with Alliance for Smile - a nonprofit organization that provides free surgical repairs for cleft lip and cleft palate.

When not at work, Dr. Su enjoys volunteering, photography, road trips, and scuba diving and is a retired rally car racer and motorcycle rider.

Dr. Annie Pickering

General Dentist

Dr. Annie Pickering completed her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia, after completing her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Victoria. Dr. Pickering grew up in the small town of Brandon, Manitoba, but spent her summers in North Saanich, BC.

Dr. Pickering is an avid learner who loves her dynamic profession and takes great pride in her work. She ensures each patient is well informed and understands their personalized treatment plan. In addition to general dental procedures, Dr. Pickering offers nitrous oxide and oral sedation to improve patient comfort.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Pickering spends her time exploring the island by land or sea, brushing up her piano skills, and spending time with her puppy.

Dr. Saba Naghipur

General Dentist

Dr. Saba Naghipur was raised in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba with his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). He received several awards upon graduation including highest standing in orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and dental public health. After working in general practice in Winnipeg for 5 years, he decided to relocate to beautiful Victoria with his wife who is from the island.

Dr. Saba is committed to providing the highest quality of care for his patients. He has completed continuing education courses to advance his skills in endodontics, oral and nitrous oxide sedation and implant treatment. He is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and strives to provide his patients care in a relaxing environment.

During his free time he enjoys exercising, watching sports, and spending time with his wife and daughter exploring all that Vancouver island has to offer.

Dr. Mariana Capretz

General Dentist

Dr. Mariana Capretz completed her Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree at Western University, followed by her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at McGill University, where she graduated as one of the top four students in her class. Dr. Capretz was born in Japan to a Brazilian family and has lived in several countries before settling down in Canada. She is fluent in Portuguese and loves to meet patients from all over the world!

Dr. Capretz’s favourite part of her job is the patients. She loves creating a personalized treatment plan for each of them, ensuring they comprehend the work needed, and providing a comfortable environment where it can be done. Dr. Capretz can offer her patients all of the general dentistry procedures, including some laser treatments.

When not in clinic, Dr. Capretz enjoys bouldering, playing disc golf and tennis, and hanging out with her cat, Monty!

Dr. Amit Makkar

Dr. Amit Makkar was born in Northern Ontario and graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University in 2017.

“Dr. Mak”, as his patients like to call him, understands that, for some people, dental treatment can rank as high as spiders and public speaking when it comes to inducing anxiety. That is precisely why he takes pride in creating a low-stress environment for his patients through a gentle hand and a relaxed communication style. Dr. Mak consistently invests time to improve his knowledge, focusing on emerging technologies and developments in dentistry to provide high-standard care and ensure positive patient outcomes. Dr. Mak is certified in IV sedation and is trained in providing Invisalign. Additionally, he is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. Once a year, he travels to the arctic to provide dental care to the Inuit populations of Nunavut.

With a passion for all things outdoors, Dr. Mak and his partner moved to Vancouver Island in 2019 to enjoy all the west coast has to offer. In his free time, you can catch him mountain biking the trails with his adorable pup, travelling to expand his perspective, and sharing his passion for Chai, Indian spice tea.

Dr. David Johnson is dedicated to performing dentistry with compassion. At his core, he believes in caring for others whether they are here in the Westshore or in 3rd world nations.

Dr. Johnson is a gold-level Invisalign provider who enjoys providing his patients with cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Johnson is Victoria born, raised, and educated. He attended the University of Victoria before graduating from the University of British Columbia in 2008 with his degree in medical dentistry (DMD).

Since the start of his career, Dr. Johnson has worked to provide informed dentistry where he does his best to help patients understand their diagnosis. He has a warm and professional demeanor. He would be honoured to provide dentistry to your family through any of his dental clinics.
