Laser Dentistry for Children

NO NEEDLES. NO DRILLS.

Let’s raise a generation that isn’t afraid of the dentist. You can prepare your child for a lifetime of good dental health by helping them feel more confident about visiting the dentist. Cavity treatment with a dental laser is much less stressful and less painful, helping kids associate good experiences with good dental health.

Family Treatment Coordinator

Our treatment coordinators offer a professional, safe and confidential environment to connect with you and your family to discuss treatment plans by communicating available treatment plan options. This includes discussing the benefits and risks of your options; your financial decisions; giving accurate financial estimates; as well as sharing their knowledge of procedures using videos and photos to support you in making the most informed choice for your family’s treatment plans.

If finances are a barrier to your dental treatment, our treatment coordinators can assist you with the approval process for our third-party financing company, Medicard who we work closely with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Children should see a dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth, as recommended by the Canadian Dental Association. Early visits are short, gentle, and age-appropriate. Frequent visits are also critical for catching issues early, and to get your child comfortable from the start. Parkway Dental’s family-focused approach is designed to make those first visits positive.

The best way to help your child feel comfortable is to keep the first visit positive and pressure-free, and to choose a dental team experienced with young patients. At Parkway Dental we keep early visits short and age-appropriate, explain things in a friendly way, and offer gentle options like needle-free laser dentistry and nitrous oxide when needed. Our Kids Corner, in-room Netflix, and family treatment coordinators all help your child relax and have fun, so the dentist becomes a place they associate with good experiences.

Yes, laser dentistry is a safe and gentle way to treat cavities in children, and it is often far more comfortable than the traditional drill. Because many laser treatments need little or no freezing, your child can usually avoid the needle and the sounds and pressure that make kids anxious. At Parkway Dental we use it specifically to give children calm, positive early experiences so they grow up unafraid of the dentist.

Yes, cavities in baby teeth do need to be treated, even though those teeth are temporary. Decay does not stop on its own, and left untreated it can cause real pain, spread infection, and lead to abscesses that affect a child’s overall health. Because baby teeth have thinner enamel than adult teeth, cavities reach the nerve faster, and an infected baby tooth can even damage the permanent tooth forming underneath it. Baby teeth also hold space for adult teeth and support eating and speech, and some back molars stay in place until around age 12, so they need to stay healthy for years. At Parkway Dental we treat children’s cavities gently and early, often with needle-free laser dentistry, to protect your child’s comfort and their long-term oral health.
