What to Expect on Your First Visit

On your first visit you’ll meet your new dentist and dental hygienist. They will take a mess-free 3D scan, record x-rays, clean your teeth, conduct an oral health exam, and discuss any issues or concerns with you.

If you’re nervous or anxious about dental work, just let us know. Our staff are trained to support those with anxiety and can alleviate some of your discomfort. Book your new patient exam online and experience the Parkway Dental difference!

Advanced Digital 3D Scanning

At our practice, every new patient exam begins with a state-of-the-art iTero Lumina digital scan – something unique to our dental office. This quick, comfortable, and mess-free 3D scan captures detailed, high-definition images of your teeth and gums, enhanced by red light cavity detection technology to identify early signs of decay before they become visible.

You can view a fully rotatable, 3D digital model of your smile in stunning detail right away, giving you a clear understanding of your dental health. After the scan, we provide a comprehensive, easy-to-understand patient report that we can email or print for you to keep. This innovative technology means a more accurate exam and a better overall experience—setting the foundation for your healthiest smile.

Hygiene Assessment and Dental X-Rays

Your hygienist will start a chart for you so we can track the overall health of your teeth and gums. As part of this process, your hygienist will also take some digital x-rays to use as a baseline for understanding your teeth.

Teeth Cleaning

Professional cleaning by a dental hygienist will help to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. A typical cleaning will include:

  • Removal of tartar build up
  • Tooth polishing
  • Flossing and scaling
  • Fluoride treatment
A new patient exam teeth cleaning is performed by a Parkway Dental hygienist.
